Free Seminar Features State Fund’s Back Connection™ on November 14 in Chico

November 07, 2007

CHICO/SAN FRANCISCO – State Compensation Insurance Fund is presenting a free safety and health seminar as part of State Fund’s Employer Education Series, featuring its own innovative and acclaimed back-injury-prevention process: State Fund’s Back Connection™. The three-hour seminar entitled “Watch Your Back” introduces an educational and easy-to-use DVD that shows employers how they can involve the very people they are trying to protect—their employees—in this interactive back-injury-prevention program. Specialists from State Fund’s Ergonomics Services Unit will present a complete overview of the DVD’s features on Wednesday morning, November 14, in the University of Phoenix North Valley Learning Center, Chico.

Offered only to current State Fund policyholders and at no charge, the seminar will provide attendees with a complimentary copy of the DVD for hands-on participation during the session, and implementation afterwards at the workplace. Employers will learn how to evaluate their operations, identify unsafe acts, compare alternatives for reducing the chance of injury, and implement/monitor methods of injury loss prevention. State Fund’s Back Connection™ provides all the resources employers need to develop an effective back-injury-prevention process customized to their business.

Back-injury prevention has always been a difficult process for business owners to address. The impacts on business are substantial, and they include the loss of key employees, decreased productivity, and increased costs of doing business. State Fund has developed a product designed to help both large and small employers:

  • Reduce the risk of back injuries.
  • Increase productivity.
  • Achieve a positive return on investment.

With State Fund’s Back Connection™ a variety of tools guide users through the DVD process that provides all the resources employers need to develop an effective back-injury-prevention process. Business owners have asked for an easy way to integrate injury prevention into the way they do business. In this workshop they will learn how to do just that, and they will take away valuable information they can use immediately.

State Fund’s Back Connection™ is a unique process that can benefit any employer committed to reducing back-injury risks at the work site:

  • Business Owners
  • Frontline Managers and Supervisors
  • Safety Managers
  • Maintenance Supervisors
  • Chief Financial Officers
  • Anyone in the organization responsible for employee safety

State Fund invites employers who have a laptop/notebook to bring it to the seminar to participate in an interactive job analysis. However, this item is not required for attendance.

The seminar will take place at the University of Phoenix North Valley Learning Center, on Wednesday, November 14, from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon. On-site registration and complimentary continental breakfast begin at 8:30 a.m. Free parking is available.

Seating is limited. To help ensure admission to this free event, State Fund encourages early registration online, or by e-mail (mnechelberger@scif.com), phone (call Mishele Echelberger at (530) 223-7138), or fax (Attention: Mishele Echelberger at (530) 223-7166).
