Free Policyholder Workshop on Restaurant Health & Safety

October 27, 2005

SAN JOSE/SAN FRANCISCO -- State Compensation Insurance Fund’s San Jose District Office on November 1, 2005 will host a free Restaurant Health & Safety workshop to help restaurant owners create a comprehensive safety training program and comply with state and federal workplace regulations.

Featured speaker for the event is occupational and environmental health educator Diane Bush, who coordinates the Restaurant Supervisor Safety Training Program at U.C. Berkeley’s Labor Occupational Health Program.

All participants will receive various educational materials including training guides, safety tip sheets and safety orientation checklists.

The workshop will help restaurant managers and owners to:

  • Meet CAL/OSHA training requirements.
  • Engage workers in their safety programs.
  • Identify ways to prevent injuries.
  • Provide a one-hour safety-training seminar tailored to their restaurant.

The workshop is held from 2 – 4 p.m. at State Fund’s San Jose District Office located at 6203 San Ignacio Boulevard, San Jose, CA. To register, please call (415) 975-2411 or fax an RVSP to (415) 975-2444.

The workshop is part of a series of educational programs State Compensation Insurance Fund holds throughout the state each year to help employers create safe workplaces, inform them about new workers’ compensation regulations and to reduce workers’ compensation insurance costs.

EDITOR'S NOTE: Established by the California Legislature in 1914, State Compensation Insurance Fund guarantees the availability of workers' compensation coverage at cost to all California employers and competes fairly with private carriers. State Fund is a wholly self-supporting non-profit enterprise that serves as a moderating and stabilizing influence on California's workers' compensation insurance system.
