SAN JOSE/SAN FRANCISCO -- State Compensation Insurance Fund policyholders can learn how to develop a customized ergonomics program and enhance workplace safety at a free “Office Ergonomics” workshop at State Fund’s San Jose District Office.
The workshop is among the many educational programs State Fund holds each year throughout California to help employers create safe workplaces, inform them about workers’ compensation regulations and ultimately reduce workers’ compensation costs.
Speakers include State Fund Safety & Health Services Department supervisor and ergonomics expert R.J. Banks who earned the 2005 “Employee Safety Award” from Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger. Also speaking is Chris Shulenberger, who is Director of Ergonomics for Clayton Group Services, which is a nationally recognized provider of occupational and safety services.
All attendees will receive a complimentary CD-Rom entitled “Ergonomics: How May We Help You?” created by R.J. Banks and produced by State Fund’s Safety & Health Services Department. In addition, employers will receive a certificate of accreditation as well as training/reference material.
Seminar topics include:
- Understanding and preventing work related musculoskeletal disorders.
- Applying ergonomic intervention strategies.
- Developing and customizing an office ergonomics-training program.
The workshop, which runs from 8:30 am and ends at 4:30 pm, is scheduled for January 12th and 13th at State Fund’s San Jose District Office. The office is located at 6203 San Ignacio Blvd, San Jose.
