State Fund Medical Provider Network (MPN) Tips
If State Fund is the workers’ comp insurance carrier for your employer, and you experience an injury or illness due to employment, State Fund’s Medical Provider Network (MPN) physicians and other medical providers will provide authorized medical treatment.
State Fund’s MPN is made up of a group of physicians and other medical service providers within the state of California.
- Some of the MPN physicians and providers primarily treat occupational injuries.
- Other MPN providers specialize in general areas of medicine.
- If necessary, the MPN will provide specialists to treat the injury or illness.
Your employer must notify each covered employee in writing of the policies and procedures of the MPN. Employers insured through State Fund have access to the newest versions of three publications for notifying you:
- Notice to Employees posting. This notice must be posted in a conspicuous location frequented by employees, where employees may easily read the notice during the workday hours.
- Employee’s Guide to the State Fund Medical Provider Network brochure.
- New Employee’s Guide to Workers’ Compensation brochure.
If you are injured on the job:
- As soon as you can, tell your supervisor that you have been hurt.
- Except for first-aid injuries, your employer will provide you with a claim form.
- On the claim form describe your injury, as well as how, when, and where it occurred.
- Return the completed form to your employer.
- If your company offers MPN coverage, your employer will direct you to the nearest MPN facility for quality medical treatment.
