Free Seminar - Emergency and Disaster Preparedness Keeping Patients and Workers Safe

State Compensation Insurance Fund and the Department of Health Services are partnering in their continued efforts to ensure public safety during California’s recent excessive heat waves. This seminar will focus on emergency and disaster preparedness planning considerations for the convalescent home and residential care facility industries.

Federal and state regulations require that all facilities protect the health and safety of their patients during emergencies and ensure that all necessary precautions are taken especially during a heat wave. A Department of Health Services spokesperson will provide an overview of regulatory requirements and planning considerations for emergency and disaster preparedness. As an added bonus, a State Compensation Insurance Fund Loss Control Consultant will conduct a session on worker safety issues.

  • Learn details on what to include in a disaster plan
  • Understand how extended heat conditions can develop into an emergency situation
  • Get tips on Worker Safety
    • Patient or Resident Handling Solutions
