EUREKA -- State Fund Eureka District Office employees will participate in the annual "Relay for Life" July 15-16 at the College of the Redwoods where they hope to raise more than $14,000 to benefit the American Cancer Society's (ACS) effort to find a cure for cancer.
State Fund Eureka District Office employees have participated in the 24-hour event since 1999 and have raised $65,000 for the cancer society. Employees have already raised $11,000 in fundraising activities for this year’s run. Humboldt County has collected more than $5 million for the ACS in the last 14 years.
Employees scheduled to participate include Team Captain Jan Hill, Theresa Kadle, Julie Brown, Nancy Maas, Fernanda Rhead, Greg Ihde and District Office Manager Stephen G. Mackey. Mackey noted, "We are honored to support the Relay for Life and aid the American Cancer Society which has contributed to major strides in cancer treatment through grants to research centers. Everyone has been touched by cancer whether it's a relative, friend or co-worker."
EDITOR'S NOTE: Established by the California Legislature in 1914, State Compensation Insurance Fund guarantees the availability of workers' compensation coverage at cost to all California employers and competes fairly with private carriers. State Fund is a wholly self-supporting non-profit enterprise that serves as a moderating and stabilizing influence on California's workers' compensation insurance system.
